Community College Gippsland (CCG) is a registered charity committed to positively changing lives and enhancing social inclusion through the transformative power of education.
CCG is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is committed to providing not-for-profit education to the local community, from secondary levels to adult education.
As part of CCG’s commitment to education and developing future leaders, each year, we run our ground-breaking Cadet Director Observer Program. The 12-month Program provides two aspiring directors with a participatory learning experience on our Board of Directors. Cadets receive hands-on experience as a non-voting Director, as well as a structured learning program and one-on-one mentoring from our experienced Directors.
The Cadet Director Observer Program is an excellent opportunity to gain Board exposure and develop the skills required to become a Director. We are looking for people with passion, innovation and complementary skills. Knowledge and/or experience in secondary education and VET/RTO training, business, community, advocacy or philanthropy will be viewed favourably.
People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, those who have experience with disability or working with young people to improve their circumstances are encouraged to apply.
Time demands
As a Cadet Director, you will have the time to commit to Board Meetings and in representing the Board at various CCG events.
There will be approximately eight Board meetings per year, which are held from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, plus strategic planning meetings. These meetings will take place at various CCG campuses or online as preferred by Directors. Sub-committee meetings are also held online per an agreed annual schedule.
CCG Board Cadet Directors are volunteers. A professional development budget is available and some expenses, including travel and accommodation, may be approved by the Board.
