CCG Morwell Campus Expands Training and Employment Pathways in the Latrobe Valley
Community College Gippsland (CCG) has marked an exciting new chapter in delivering accessible, inclusive education and training opportunities across Latrobe Valley, celebrating the recent community launch of its Morwell campus.
The launch brought together community members, local stakeholders, and industry partners to showcase the campus as a vibrant learning hub designed to support people from all walks of life to gain skills, build confidence, and connect with employment pathways.
Building on this momentum, the Morwell campus is set to deliver a diverse range of training opportunities in 2026, including 14 pre-accredited courses and two nationally accredited qualifications, providing flexible entry points for learners at different stages of their journey.
Further strengthening local employment pathways, two key programs will commence in May:
- Launch into a Role in Health – LRH, in partnership with Latrobe Regional Health
- Warehousing and Distribution program, aligned with local industry demand
Programs delivered in partnership with Latrobe Regional Health have already translated into employment outcomes for several participants, reinforcing the value of industry-connected training.
A standout success has been the Here to Care program, demonstrating the power of collaboration in creating meaningful outcomes for multicultural learners.
From concept to delivery in just four weeks, CCG partnered with Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) and Employment Facilitators to design a program that responded directly to learner and industry needs.
Thirteen multicultural participants, many with English as a second language, completed the pre-accredited course focused on:
- Understanding the skills required in home care support
- Learning the complexities of caring for people in their homes
- Respecting cultural values, boundaries, and diversity
- Recognising the importance of staying within the job role
- Building confidence to work safely within scope
The results have been significant, with participants securing employment in home care support, benefiting learners, their families, and the broader community.
Several participants are now progressing into the Certificate III in Individual Support, continuing their pathway into the health and community services sector.
“The flexible learning environment made it easier to balance study with my work commitments,” Nan said.
“The trainers really understand our needs and support us every step of the way.”
“The language support gave me confidence to communicate and continue studying,” Mary added.
“Now I feel ready to work and build my future in aged care.”
Their experiences highlight CCG’s commitment to inclusive education, particularly for multicultural learners supported through flexible delivery and tailored learning support.

Local Support That Goes the Extra Mile
Complementing training and employment pathways, the campus is supported by a Work & Learning Centre (WLC), a Victorian Government program funded by the Brotherhood of St Laurence, offering free, personalised support for job seekers across Gippsland.
The WLC assists with career planning, resume and interview preparation, training pathways, job referrals, and ongoing support after starting work or study.
It also supports eligible individuals to access Work and Development Permits (WDPs), helping remove barriers to participation. A WDP allows eligible participants to work off unpaid fines through approved activities, including study. In some cases, an 80-hour course can reduce fines by up to $4,438, covering traffic, toll, parking, and other infringements.
Community members are encouraged to contact CCG to discuss eligibility and support options.
CCG continues to demonstrate what is possible when training providers, community organisations, and industry work together, building skills, creating employment pathways, and strengthening the local workforce.
