Community College Gippsland – Honouring a Legacy of Gippsland Employment Skills Training in Morwell
As of December, Morwell-based community organisation Gippsland Employment Skills Training (GEST) has officially closed its doors. Despite this, the delivery of their valuable services will continue, with Community College Gippsland (CCG) stepping forward to carry on the vital work that GEST has provided to Morwell and the surrounding region for over 35 years.
Celebrating its 50th year of operation, CCG also has a rich history of delivering quality education services and is honoured to uphold the delivery of accessible training and employment services in the region.
The services to be provided in Morwell by CCG now include:
- Work and Learning Centre – providing essential training and placement support for job seekers, helping to connect participants with sustainable employment opportunities.
- Learn Local – delivering a multitude of courses that help people get the skills they need for study, work and life.
- Vocational Education – delivering an expanded array of government-funded and nationally recognised courses.
The original staff whose dedication and experience have shaped the success of GEST, will transfer over to the CCG, ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for learners and local employers.
CCG CEO Dale Gemmell stated, “We are proud to continue the important work that GEST has delivered for over three decades. This is an incredible opportunity for CCG to further extend our support for the Gippsland community, providing education, training, and employment pathways that change lives.”
Whether you’re seeking to improve your skills, change careers, or connect with new opportunities, CCG offers personalised, flexible training solutions that meet the unique needs of our community.
“We look forward to working with local stakeholders and employers to build on GEST’s legacy and ensure ongoing opportunities to create educational and employment pathways that address the local job market’s needs.”
The Work & Learning Centre is one of only 5 in Victoria – having been established in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and the support of the Victorian Government through Jobs Victoria.
