Changing of the Guard for CCG

May 11, 2023

Long serving members Howard Woodall and Jenny Carmichael

The 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) saw two long-serving Board Members conclude their roles and a new Director appointed.

Jenny Carmichael has been with the organisation for nearly 22 years, including serving multiple periods as Chair of the Board and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee.

According to fellow board member, Jemma Swan, her impact during this time has been immense.

“Jenny’s dedication to the board over such a long tenure has been invaluable to current and former board members,” Ms Swan said. “Being able to reflect on and learn from changes in the organisation and education industry over such a long period has given her a unique strategic insight.

“Jenny has been generous with her expertise and networks, acting as a formal and informal mentor for new board members and CCG CEOs and executive teams over the years. She has provided sage advice through both challenging and successful times.

Jenny was previously awarded with a Life Membership of the CCG Board in 2015, and as a final reflection of her commitment to CCG and our vision, she has offered to remain on the Audit and Finance Committee as an externally appointed member in 2023. We thank Jenny for her immense contribution to our organisation.”

Fellow Board Member, Howard Woodall, also concluded his role as director on Thursday night after serving two terms on the Board.

Deputy Board Chair, Joshua Chikuse, shared that Howard has been a great addition to CCG.

“Howard joined as a voting director in 2017 and has contributed much in his six years of service,” Mr Chikuse said.

“Howard has been instrumental in shaping the strategic directions of CCG over the last few years. His passion for providing opportunities for young people to succeed has been evident in everything he has done.

“His extensive business background has enabled him to share great insights from his professional experience and his leadership has helped to enhance CCG’s financial systems and reporting.

“While Howard is stepping down as a Board Member, we are delighted to announce that he will continue to provide support as an external appointment on the Audit and Finance Committee, which he chaired in 2022.”

Board Chair, Marianne Shearer, recognised Jenny and Howard for their significant contribution and dedication to CCG, for their passion, leadership and guidance.

The AGM also saw Wendy Cook officially appointed as voting Board Director. Wendy brings over 20 years of strategic financial management and as a CPA.

“Wendy’s experience in teaching and training drives her passion for building community resilience and capacity,” Ms Shearer said. “We are really looking forward to having her back at the Board table.”

The appointment is a full circle moment for Wendy, who previously completed the CCG Board Cadet program in 2019-2020.
