History

For over 40 years Community College Gippsland has been committed to innovation in education. Over the years we have helped thousands of people of all ages improve their lives through learning. 

The journey 

When we first established in 1975, we were a resource and professional development centre for schools and the community known as the West Gippsland & Latrobe Valley Community Education Centre or the Ed Centre as we simply became known. 

We offered the latest audio-visual facilities, printing, resource materials, conferences and guest speakers. 

Over the years, we’ve grown and diversified, moving into adult education and training and many other projects and programs relating to employment, youth, skills development, and training to benefit our communities. 

In 2004, our name formally changed to Education Centre Gippsland (ECG) and in 2011, Community College Gippsland, to reflect our growth and commitment to delivering programs to communities across our region. 

We now operate campuses at Warragul, Leongatha and Pakenham and offer a range of nationally accredited courses in Aged Care, Beauty, Business, Early Childhood Education, Disability, Hairdressing and Horticulture, as well as a range of pre-accredited courses to build skills for life and work. 

We also operate our own independent school for young people called ECG Secondary College. We like to think of it as school, but not as you know it. Here, we offer the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VM). Our school is designed for young people aged 15-20 who need more support to thrive.
