Good news story – Here to Care
Our Here to Care program has been a wonderful example of how quickly partnerships can create meaningful opportunities for multicultural learners in our community.
From idea to classroom in just four weeks, we worked alongside Latrobe Community Health Service’s multicultural services team and home care department and Local Jobs program to design and deliver a program that met both learner and industry needs.

Thirteen multicultural participants, many with English as a second language, completed the pre-accredited course. The training focused on:
- Understanding the skills required in home care support
- Learning the complexities of caring for people in their homes
- Respecting cultural values, boundaries, and diversity
- Recognising the importance of staying within the job description
- Building confidence not to take on responsibilities beyond their role
We’re proud to share that eight learners have already gained employment in home care support – a fantastic outcome for them, their families, and the wider community.
This program shows what’s possible when training providers and community services collaborate – building skills, creating job pathways, and strengthening our workforce while respecting cultural diversity.
