Green Lab Futures and Farming Our Future Partner with Community College Gippsland to Launch Regenerative Rotational Circular Bioeconomy (RRCiBC) Crop Trial Program
Green Lab Futures and Farming Our Future are proud to announce an innovative partnership with Community College Gippsland (CCG) to launch a groundbreaking regenerative agricultural crop trial at CCG’s Warragul campus. This project is set to transform sustainable farming practices, creating opportunities for the next generation of agricultural leaders and innovators.
The trial will focus on testing the viability of regenerative crops that enhance soil health, sequester carbon, and support biodiversity while producing high-value commodities for local and global markets. It represents a bold step forward in building a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in the Gippsland region. The first crop will be sunflower varieties, which have a lot of interest locally already.
“This partnership embodies the future of farming,” said Scott Douglas, CEO of Green Lab Futures. “By combining research, education, and community engagement, we’re fostering an ecosystem of innovation that addresses climate challenges and revitalizes local agriculture.”
The trial will serve as a hands-on learning opportunity for students and the wider Gippsland community, showcasing the benefits of regenerative agriculture and fostering collaboration between industry, education, and community stakeholders.
Key project objectives include:
- Testing and refining regenerative crop practices tailored to Gippsland’s unique conditions.
- Engaging CCG students and the local farming community in applied research and skills development.
- Promoting sustainable agriculture as a driver of regional economic growth and climate resilience.
- Exploring zero waste circular economy agricultural practices
The trial will be conducted over multiple growing seasons, with findings shared through field days, community workshops, and an open-access digital platform. These initiatives aim to inspire the adoption of regenerative farming practices across the region and beyond.
Community College Gippsland’s CEO, Dale Gemmell, shared their enthusiasm for the collaboration: “This project aligns perfectly with our vision and purpose. It’s an incredible opportunity for our students to gain cutting-edge experience in regenerative agriculture while contributing to a sustainable future for Gippsland.”
This partnership signals a shared commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in agriculture while delivering long-term benefits for the environment, economy, and community.
