CCG and Signature Care Join Forces to Support Local Aged Care Careers
Community College Gippsland (CCG) is excited to announce a new partnership with Signature Care, supporting the launch of Warragul Community Aged Care, a state-of-the-art aged care facility.
The new facility comprising of approximately 140 rooms, set to open in March 2025, is creating around 80 job opportunities, including 10 traineeships. As the training partner, CCG will play a key role in preparing candidates for these rewarding roles.
To support recruitment, CCG is offering a pre-accredited Learn Local course, Launch Your Career in Aged Care. The course equips participants with essential skills and knowledge about aged care, covering areas such as individual support, safety protocols, healthy eating, understanding body systems, quality care practices, and valuing differences. Participants will also complete an accredited First Aid course.
Kate Tonge, General Manager of Learning and Development at Signature Care emphasised the importance of education in building a skilled workforce: “Education and Training are vital in the Aged Care sector. Ensuring our employees are equipped with the skills & knowledge necessary to deliver high-quality care to our residents. Investing in a skilled workforce is crucial for maintaining standards, adhering to regulations and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in the aged care sector. Ongoing training helps employees stay updated on the latest practices, technology and regulations, enabling them to manage complex health conditions and provide person-centred care effectively.”
Den Lim, CCG’s Business Development Manager, highlighted the value of the program: “This partnership bridges the gap between education and industry. The traineeship program allows students to ‘Learn & Earn,’ while the pre-accredited course offers an opportunity to explore aged care as a career. It’s a win-win, as students either find a fulfilling career path or discover it’s not for them before committing.”
The initiative is supported by a strong network of community partners, including Warragul Community Aged Care, Adult, Community and Further Education Learn Local, Jobfind, Warragul Community House, and Latrobe Community Health Services.
Together, they aim to address the growing demand for skilled aged care workers in the region.
This collaboration not only fosters local employment but also strengthens the foundation for quality aged care services in the Gippsland community.
