Jennifer Lewis

Des Hughes

Equine

For Des Hughes harness racing and helping others to train for careers with horses has been a life passion.

Des was the driving force behind the establishment of the Gippsland Harness Training Centre at Warragul almost 20 years ago when training for newcomers to the industry was virtually non-existent.

The fully operational racing stable trains students to gain accredited skills to work in careers with horses and has shaped the racing careers of hundreds.

"You can go to any harness race meeting in Victoria and you’ll see graduates of our Centre working as drivers, trainers, and stable hands. I’m proud to be a part of that," Des said.

In 2014 Des received a Distinguished Service Medal at the Gordon Rothacker Medal night for the harness industry in Melbourne.

Narelle Cullen

General Education

Narelle has 35 years of experience in the community services sector in children services, child protection, disability, youth, koorie services and more.

She’s been in the training sector for eight years and has delivered courses for CCG for three years now in the Foundation, Community Services and Hospitality fields.

“I love working at CCG because of the community ethos of our College. I enjoy participating in the growth, challenges, successes and providing opportunities for students to explore their options and reach their full potential.”

Shar McMillan

General Education

Shar is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people who most need it.

She brings an extensive background in project management of innovation and entrepreneurship programs specifically targeting disadvantaged youth and early school leavers.Shar worked for 15 years for RMIT University in project management, education research, student mentoring, youth business entrepreneurship and more.

“I believe the strength of CCG’s General Education program is the individual focus given to each and every person to support them to achieve their potential. It is a very relaxed and supportive environment that encourages people to build skills, confidence and self esteem step-by-step.

“We are here to help and genuinely want to. It is so rewarding to be a part of each person’s learning journey and to support their development which can improve their life opportunities and self worth.”

Shar is also a Therapeutic Carer/Foster Carer with Anglicare Victoria.
